Overview

The Lost Games

Sadly, there are a small batch of games that have been lost. They fell under a couch at Twitch or something. There’s still brief writeups, but no other proof of my attempts. Please remember the bugle song Taps while you read this list.

  • 007 Racing
  • 100-Man Yen Quiz Hunter
  • Blazing Dragons
  • Chase the Express / Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn
  • NCAA Gamebreaker ’98
  • Mortal Kombat 2
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
  • WCW Mayhem

Hall of Fame

These are all the games I’ve beaten over the course of this project. Maybe it’s because I was great at them, maybe it’s because there was no way to lose. If a game will differentiate between beating it and 100%ing it (or 98.2%ing it) I will note how close I came to the Century Dream. Please remember a song about victory or struggle while reading this list. I suggest Woodie Guthrie’s Tear the Fascists Down.

  • Blazing Dragons
  • Bokura to Asobou! Ultraman TV
  • DX Jinsei Game II – The Game of Life
  • Final Fantasy VIII
  • Grind Session
  • Juggernaut
  • Bratz: Dress Up, Get Down, and Be a Bratz Superstar!
  • Kazmania 1 – Trail of Gems
  • Moritaka Chisato – Safari Tokyo
  • The Quaddle Family Mysteries – The Case of the Scarce Scarab

The Backburner

There are a few games that have been selected but have given me technical issues in trying to play. These games are postponed, but not forgotten. Please remember the Player song Baby Come Back while you read this list.

  • Goofy’s Fun House
  • Digimon World 2 (Japanese)

Who is doing this?

My name is Grant. I’m in my late 20s and live in St. Louis, Missouri. My day job is menial and unimportant. When I’m not doing video game stuff, I try to stay active in St. Louis’ comedy scene, performing improv, and rarely sketch. Currently, I’m streaming almost every night at midnight Central but mid-day streams on days I don’t work are possible. I recommend following @ps1try on Twitter to get announcements sent to your phone.

I am often joined on stream by my good friend Cole, who I met in 5th grade. I will leave him the responsibility of describing himself. He has ideas for projects tangentially related to this one that he wants to head up and I’m very excited to see where that goes.

I am also sometimes joined on stream by my good friend Colin, whom I have also known for years.

Hall of Shame

Fuck these games for various reasons. Please remember a song you do not like while reading this list. My suggestions would be Train’s Drops of Jupiter or Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline.

  • Chase the Express
  • Goofy’s Fun House
  • Mortal Kombat 2
  • VIP
  • Virus – It Is Aware
  • Boundary Gate: Daughter of Kingdom

Why are Some Games in Different Languages?

The list that I’m randomly selecting from has every disc that was released. Many, if not most, games were released  in multiple regions and appear on the list multiple times. This will make me somewhat more likely to have to play the more popular games earlier than others, with 6 localizations of Final Fantasy VII, for example, it’s 3 times more likely to appear than Destruction Derby Raw, which only had an American and European release. But each entry has it’s own spot and if, say, the French version of Final Fantasy IX is chosen, then the French version is the one I will play. I won’t be repeating localization barring significant gameplay differences. Which I don’t know about so if you know about any, hit me up and clue me in. In each game’s write-up the “release date” section is based on the version I played, not necessarily the first release.
